About PhotoForPass

PhotoForPass exists to make one small but stressful task simple: getting an official photo that is right the first time. You take a photo at home, we turn it into the exact format your document requires, and you are done in about a minute.

We care about three outcomes. The photo should be built to the official rules, so you are not sent back to start over. It should still look exactly like you. And the process should respect your time, your money and your privacy. Everything on this site, from our prices to our refund policy, is designed around those three goals.

Our photo check combines published government rules with an automated smart review of your photo. It runs in your browser before you pay, so you know where you stand before you spend anything.

The rules

We research each document's photo rules from official sources, such as the U.S. Department of State's Foreign Affairs Manual, Form DS-11, USCIS form instructions and foreign government sites. For every document we record the photo size, head height, eye position, background, file limits and how recent the photo must be, together with the source and the date we last checked it. Where a source is unclear, we say so on the page instead of guessing.

The check

The check reviews lighting, focus, background, head position and whether both eyes are open, then tells you what to fix. After payment, we fix the lighting, replace the background and crop the photo to the measured rules for your document.

What we do not claim

No private service can guarantee acceptance, because the agency makes the final decision. That is why every order is backed by a full refund if your photo is rejected.

A face photo is personal data, so we built PhotoForPass to collect as little as possible and keep it for as short a time as possible.

• Your photo stays on your device until you order. The check and preview run in your browser.
• Encrypted in transit and at rest. After you order, your photo is sent and stored encrypted.
• Deleted after 90 days. Automatically, or sooner from My photos or your order email link.
• Used for one purpose only. Making the photo you ordered. Never sold, never shared for advertising and never used to identify you.
• No account required. You can order with just an email address. Accounts are optional.
• Card details stay with Stripe. We never see your full card number.

Our privacy policy and biometric data notice explain every detail, including your rights to access and delete your data.

Some documents do not accept a photo you bring, and some agencies do not accept photos made at home. On those pages we explain the rules and do not sell you a photo.

• REAL ID, Global Entry, TWIC and the Philippine passport: the agency takes your photo in person.
• Canada: IRCC requires a photo from a commercial photographer, so we explain how to get one.
• Australia: the Australian Passport Office advises against online photo services and apps.
• Most Mexican consulates: the photo is taken at your appointment.

Every specification on this site is researched from primary sources, dated, and rechecked when official rules change. We do not claim that a person reviews every photo by hand. Instead, we keep the smart check transparent: it tells you what it looked at, and you see the finished photo before you use it.
